What is the minimum clearance allowed bewtween a free standing gas stove/fireplace and a wooden lintel? | Yahoo Answers
Well I honestly think that you should refer that question to the fireplace manufacturer for correct guidance as every case will be different. I have a gas log fire ( enclosed ) with a canopy and the clearance between the top of my canopy and the wooden mantelpiece is 115mm ( four and a half inches ) and that was within the manufacturers recommendation. However, your situation may be entirely different.
