Gas water heater not working
Water heaters are specialized machines used for regulating hot or cold water within your home. It is composed of either a tank-type, a tankless type or a solar type of machine. For tank-types, of course, they usually have a tank that serves as storage and processing area for the water to turn hot or cold should you or any household member use it.
Annoying, isn’t it? A water heater that is not supplying enough hot water can change your mood and, worse, make you think that something may be wrong with your heater.
This type of problem is usually linked to the appliances’s thermostat. A defective thermostat can change the temperature of the water dramatically. Thermostats are attached to the valve. Check if it’s working and compare the actual temperature of the water to what is shown on the gauge.
A clogged flue or vent could also be the problem. It may alter the normal flow of water from the tubing. A clog could minimize the pressure and can even cause imbalance in the heating mechanism. Poor venting can cause your heater to burn. Once gasses are burned in the heater, its fumes need a place to escape and that is called venting. Venting can keep your tubes clear. The dip tube is also another possibility. Check the tubing if they are loosened or if it is detached.
The Issue with Black or Rusty-Colored Water
Safe water is always a priority in every household. If you have children at home, you have to make sure that your water supply is clean and well managed. What if one day while washing dishes, the water coming out from your faucet is black or rusty in color, what will you do? Of course you’ll be shocked at the first moment, but don’t get stuck on trying to figure out what seems to be the problem. When it comes black or rusty colored water, always check your tubing or water source first to confirm the incident.
Usually, it is caused by a dissolved anode. This is a metal material that when exposed to heat on a long term basis may lead to rusty exterior and may degrade itself too. Rusts are inedible elements and can cause health problems if taken orally or inhaled. If this event happens, you really have to change your tubing to ensure safe water resources.
Water is Too Hot
Taking a shower before you sleep can promote comfort and relaxation. Now what if your shower produces water that is too hot? Then most probably, you welcome yourself to redness, swelling and worst, scalding burns. This type of burn is related to directional or non-directional heat exposure. If your water is hotter than what you normally expect, then your thermostat may not be working well. It is a specialized part of the gas valve that is responsible in controlling and monitoring the temperature inside the tank to avoid harmful injuries related to it. Be careful in checking for its status because the water from the tank may be too hot to handle. Secure the tubes so it will work well. Check every detail that may have possibly contributed to the malfunction of your heater.
